New Campaign Launches to Tackle Underage Sales of Age-Restricted Products

A new campaign has launched to raise awareness of the illegal sale of age-restricted products to underage people, including alcohol, vapes, knives and tobacco.

The Right Age, Right Sale campaign highlights the risks of underage sales and proxy sales (where adults purchase age-restricted products on behalf of minors). It also provides information on how to report concerns anonymously to Trading Standards to help protect young people and communities.

Why This Matters

Many retailers assume their store is compliant, but have you checked? Enforcement is increasing, and penalties are tough—stay ahead by making compliance part of your daily routine.

What You Can Do

Report concerns anonymously

If you suspect a business is selling age-restricted products to underage customers, you can report it confidentially to Trading Standards.

Recognise the signs of illegal sales

Look for missing Challenge 25 signage, failure to check ID, or adults buying for underage customers.

Raise awareness in your community

Share campaign resources to help prevent underage sales before they happen.
