Overview

If you’ve arrived on this page, it is because your business has recently failed a test purchase relating to age-restricted sales.

To support your next steps, you have been directed here to complete a full suite of learning modules designed to improve awareness, strengthen internal procedures and reduce the risk of future sales to underage customers.

All modules listed below must be completed in full. Each module includes interactive content, tracked assessments and a certificate upon successful completion.

Please ensure the relevant staff and/or managers complete the learning as required by your local Trading Standards team.

Disclaimer: These modules are intended for educational and learning purposes only. They have been developed to support businesses in understanding some of the best practices around age-restricted sales. Completion of this training alone does not provide a full due diligence defence under relevant legislation and should not be relied upon as evidence of compliance in the event of enforcement action or legal proceedings. Businesses are advised to seek their own legal or professional advice, either externally or from their local Trading Standards service where appropriate, on how to ensure their internal procedures, training processes and record keeping meet legal requirements.

Important Information on Access

Each member of staff who is required to complete this training must do so using their own individual account. The bundle must be purchased per learner, and access cannot be shared. Once a purchase is made, the modules are assigned to the named user only. It is not possible for one person to purchase the training and have multiple staff complete it under the same login.

Please ensure each staff member completes their own set of modules through their unique login to meet the requirements set by your local Trading Standards team.

Compliance Training for Referred Businesses

This package is for businesses referred by their Local Authority following a failed test purchase. It is priced higher than the standard option because it includes additional administration, such as managing the referral process and confirming completion with the Authority.
As part of the referral process, all modules in this package must be completed. This ensures full compliance and supports the Local Authority’s requirements.  Access: This course is only available through the link provided by your Local Authority (for example, in your failed test purchase letter or other official communication), which directed you to this page. It is not listed on the main website because it is specifically for referred cases.

Why are there two versions of this course?

We offer two options because businesses have different needs:
  • One is for businesses referred by their Local Authority after a failed test purchase.
  • The other is for proactive businesses who want to train staff before issues arise.

Which one should I choose?

  • If you’ve been referred by your Local Authority, you must use the link provided to you and complete all modules in this specific package.
  • If you’re taking steps voluntarily, the preventative option on our website is the right choice.

What is a referred case?

A referred case means your Local Authority has directed you to complete training following a failed test purchase. This is part of a formal process to support compliance.

Why is the referred version priced higher?

The referred version includes additional administration, such as managing referrals and confirming completion with the Local Authority. This extra process is reflected in the cost.
