Steph is an experienced Team Leader enforcing animal health legislation with Staffordshire County Council and has a wealth of experience on taking animals into possession using the powers available in the Animal Welfare Act 2006. Steph is also the Lead Officer for CTSI on Animal Health and Welfare and Lead Officer for Disease on the National Animal Health and Welfare Panel.
Course Programme
This course is targeted towards officers both new to animal health and welfare enforcement and may act as a reminder to more experienced animal health and veterinary officers of the rules relating to animal welfare at livestock markets, in transport and on farm along with the enforcement powers available to them in their roles. The course is suitable for officers across all the devolved nations and will cover the requirements of the primary legislation of the Animal Health Act 1981 and the Animal Welfare Act 2006 alongside the requirements of the Welfare of Animals in Markets Order 1990 and the Welfare of Animals in Transport Orders that implement retained Regulation EC 1/2005 and the Welfare of Farmed Animals Regulations and will include an overview of the powers available to officers to deal with non-compliance.

Gerry Wintrip is an experienced regulatory enforcer with a number of high level successful prosecutions to his credit. He is also experienced trainer in the areas of doorstep crime and fraud.
Course Programme
This course looks at the Theft Act and how it relates to Trading Standards investigations and in particular Doorstep Crime. It is aimed at officers who have little or no experience of the Theft Act, but could also be used as a refresher for officers with more experience. Note; this training is available to Local Authority staff only.

This course is for all inspectors who enforce the Animal Welfare Act 2006, the Animal By-Product Regulations. The course focusses on illegal slaughter of livestock and gives practical consideration for the investigation of non-compliance and the use of the powers within Welfare of Animals at the Time of Killing (England) Regulations 2015.
