Steph is an experienced Team Leader enforcing animal health legislation with Staffordshire County Council and has a wealth of experience on taking animals into possession using the powers available in the Animal Welfare Act 2006. Steph is also the Lead Officer for CTSI on Animal Health and Welfare and Lead Officer for Animal Welfare on the National Animal Health and Welfare Panel.
Course Programme
This course is targeted towards all officers who may have involvement in a notifiable disease outbreak of foot & mouth. The course will include considerations for emergency preparedness and for management and control should there be disease declared.

Session 1: An overview of notifiable animal health disease outbreaks and the impact it has on local communities and industry, local authorities and the wider economic impacts.
An outline of the principles for controlling notifiable disease. An explanation of the law and the controls used to prevent further spread of disease, its containment and eradication. The importance of movement controls. And the significance of contingency planning.

The bitesize training will be a total of 2 hours 10 minutes, with 2 hours of CPPD awarded.
