Course Programme
The session will be suitable for Trading Standards Staff who need an introduction to food standards offences and also for those who simply want a refresher.
It will focus on the practical aspects of investigating food standards offences.
The training will commence with an outline of the range of offences available under food legislation.
It will then develop the investigative methods that can be used to:
- secure evidence of an offence. This will include types of sampling and evidence from consumers as well as outlining an Officer`s powers.
- progress the evidence to a position when it can be used in proceedings. This will include how evidence can be collected, stored & transported whilst maintaining evidential traceability.
- outline the areas that a PACE interview, if conducted, should include.
- The course will not focus on civil remedies, such as Notice or FPNs.
The booking window closes 2 days prior to the course.
The bitesize training will be a total of 2 hours 10 minutes, with 2 hours of CPPD awarded.
Joining information and available presentations will be circulated 24 hours before the course, ready for the training session.
